NomNomNom That's The Way The Cookie Crumbles Nom Nom Nom

The other day, a box arrived in the mail.

I opened it up, and here’s what I found.

What a wonderful surprise!

This gift is one of the things that spurred me to start my “People Helping People/Pay It  Forward” Program.

Doing little things to let people know you care.

Kellye, this Cheryl's Cookie-gram present really made me smile.  (It made my tummy smile, too!)  But more than anything, I smiled because I knew you thought of me…and took the time to let me know.

I sure love you, girly!  Thanks for all you do, for your community and your friends.  You're amazing, and you and your family make the world a better place.

Man. It's Windy 'Round Here

It's been super windy in the West of Texas...

The skies were super brown yesterday.  Today looks to be a rerun.

I ran to the Natural Grocers store for a few things.  I wheeled my basket to my truck, emptied it, then put the basket in the basket rack...three times.

This is what made me laugh yesterday...after I got home and had all the doors shut, humidifiers and diffusers going.

Because that's exactly what it felt like!

Happy Monday, friends!

Tuesday Randomnocity (is that a word?)

See this?

I was flipping through my iPhoto storage, and found these shots I took, in one day.  And I thought, “What the heck?”  And then, I realized…

Though you may not be able to, I can look at them and tell you exactly what was going down on that day.

Without looking, I can tell you it was a Monday.

How?

Photo #1 is research I was doing for my chiropractor, whose daughter raises show lambs.  They were searching for a natural alternative for ringworm, a parasite to which lambs are susceptible.

Photo #2, #3, and #4 are screen shots taken of the breakfast menu at Smiling Moose.  I deliver Smiling Moose breakfast to one of my customers every Monday.

Photo #5 is a screen shot of a text between a customer and myself, concerning the Hendrix Experience concert we'd gone to the weekend before.  It made me laugh, so I thought I'd capture it for posterity.

Photo #6 is a shot of a cool little marketing attachment for your iPhone.  I have one, and I use it daily to store business cards.  It beats carrying a purse into a customer’s office.

And that’s just  photos taken before 11 a.m.

Yup.  I am an iPhone addict.  And I use almost every tool it offers.

Could you describe one day of your random photos?

Try it!  It’s pretty entertaining!

It also makes for passable blog fodder.

Happy Tuesday,  Faithful Reader!

Music Makes Our World Go Round

Are your memories triggered by anything special?

Music, perhaps?

I love music.  My mom instilled a love of music in all of us.  She couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket, but she loved music, and made sure we did, as well.

So many milestones are marked with music…

I’m glad both ThatManILove and I passed our love of music on to our sons.

Elder Son will send me a text, like this one….and it will trigger a memory of us, driving down the road and singing.

Name that tune.  His memory for lyrics slay me.  He's amazing.

I won’t ever forget our music-infused road miles.  I treasure those moments.

As a blended family, we've enjoyed some cool music moments as adults - like traveling to Lenox, MA for a James Taylor concert.  Traveling to Phoenix, AZ, for a Travis Tritt/Marty Stuart acoustic concert at the Centennial Theatre.

Beautiful times with our young men.

I wouldn't ever trade for those times, and I'll treasure them forever.

Easter Week - Life at a Heart Level

This week has been consumed with conferences and grandkids!

Love the conferences…they’re always fun and educational.

But the grandkids?

Amazing.

Awesome.

Beautiful.

Walks to the park.

Playing with toys.

Did I say beautiful?

I am so very thankful.

Fun stuff, this.  Thank you, Jesus, for all You have done for us.

He is Risen, indeed.

Keeping It Light, Keeping It Right

One of my faithful Facebook followers left me a message the other day, and told me:   “I hope you never lose your sense of humor. Remember it when those golf outings etc start!”

Well, my friend, those tournaments have begun.

And I hear you, brother.  I’m taking your advice to heart, and trying to maintain my sense of humor during the entry and sponsorship portion of this tournament.

This particular golf tournament is a biggie.  Over 500 players, 2 days, 2 courses, and it  almost filled up in a 24 hour period.  It funds 26 college scholarships per year.  The major whining will soon begin, possibly even today, from the people who were not lucky enough to get into the tournament.

And I am going to try my hardest to keep my sense of humor.

It’s a great tournament, for a great cause, and it’s a lot of fun.  The hardest part is getting the teams in, the sponsorship noted, and getting all the players, contact information, and handicaps down.

We have a great committee with lots of hard workers that are also fun people, and they all make me laugh and, hopefully, vice-versa.

Community service?  Is a good thing.

And when it helps young people?  Even more so.

So this post is multi-faceted.  A reminder, to myself, to keep my sense of humor - because if it isn’t fun, why do it?

And also, a reminder of why I do this...to help others.  And I cannot lose sight of that goal.

Because helping others succeed in life?  Is a good thing.  A very, very good thing.

So, step up to the tee!  It's time!
