Keeping It Light, Keeping It Right

One of my faithful Facebook followers left me a message the other day, and told me:   “I hope you never lose your sense of humor. Remember it when those golf outings etc start!”

Well, my friend, those tournaments have begun.

And I hear you, brother.  I’m taking your advice to heart, and trying to maintain my sense of humor during the entry and sponsorship portion of this tournament.

This particular golf tournament is a biggie.  Over 500 players, 2 days, 2 courses, and it  almost filled up in a 24 hour period.  It funds 26 college scholarships per year.  The major whining will soon begin, possibly even today, from the people who were not lucky enough to get into the tournament.

And I am going to try my hardest to keep my sense of humor.

It’s a great tournament, for a great cause, and it’s a lot of fun.  The hardest part is getting the teams in, the sponsorship noted, and getting all the players, contact information, and handicaps down.

We have a great committee with lots of hard workers that are also fun people, and they all make me laugh and, hopefully, vice-versa.

Community service?  Is a good thing.

And when it helps young people?  Even more so.

So this post is multi-faceted.  A reminder, to myself, to keep my sense of humor - because if it isn’t fun, why do it?

And also, a reminder of why I do this...to help others.  And I cannot lose sight of that goal.

Because helping others succeed in life?  Is a good thing.  A very, very good thing.

So, step up to the tee!  It's time!

Taking Up The Game Of Golf

I’m tired.

I just returned from a customer appreciation trip.
Translation:  lots of organizing fun stuff for other people to enjoy.
End result:  exhaustion.
Caveats:
Ruidoso, New Mexico, is a beautiful place.
Our hotel had it’s own beautiful lake, which our balcony overlooked.  Peaceful.
The weather was somewhat cooler than Midland, Texas.
It even rained.
ThatManILove went with me.

Venus vs. Mars

Wife’s Diary:
Tonight, I thought my husband was acting weird. We had made plans to meet at a nice restaurant for dinner. I was shopping with my friends all day long, so I thought he was upset at the fact that I was a bit late, but he made no comment on it. Conversation wasn't flowing, so I
suggested that we go somewhere quiet so we could talk. He agreed, but he didn't say much.

I asked him what was wrong; He said, 'Nothing.' I asked him if it was my fault that he was upset He said he wasn't upset, that it had nothing to do with me, and not to worry about it. On the way home, I told him that I loved him. He smiled slightly, and kept driving.

I can't explain his behavior I don't know why he didn't say, 'I love you, too.' When we got home, I felt as if I had lost him completely,
as if he wanted nothing to do with me anymore. He just sat there quietly, and watched TV. He continued to seem distant and absent. Finally, with silence all around us, I decided to go to bed. About 15 minutes later, he came to bed. But I still felt that he was distracted, and his thoughts were somewhere else. He fell asleep; I cried. I don't know what to do. I'm almost sure that his thoughts are with someone else. My life is a disaster.

Husband's Diary:

A four putt? Who the hell four putts??

Friday, Baby!!

Today is going to be a busy day.

Workout, new gym, new trainer, 5:00 a.m.
Come home, get ready for work, and run by the OilPatch Kids Golf Tournament, where my company is a featured “cooker”...oh, yeah, baby, Baker Hughes pork chops.  Our guys are renown for those babies!  Lots of customers will be playing golf today and tomorrow, it will be fun to see everyone.
And then, at 11:20 a.m., I have to be in West Odessa to get my fingerprints taken for my concealed handgun permit.  (I missed my appointment in Midland - bummer!)
I still have work to do, after that.
But, it’s Friday - and who knows what the weekend will bring?
Hey, Friday?  Bring it.
