It Was 80° Yesterday

This weather app messed me up.

In my defense, I will say we have had unseasonably weird weather lately.

One day, it will be 80°.

The next, 14°.

So, when I checked the weather yesterday, I wasn’t surprised to see 12°.  And I don't mind the cool weather.  It's not ever gonna stay around long here - and I am hormonal, people.  Give me 57-67° and I am happy, happy, happy.

As you might guess, I was surprised when I went outside, in my heavy turtleneck sweater, leggings, and boots, to find that it wasn’t really cold at all.

Yup.  It was around 44°.

Chalk this one up to walking down the trail of Mi Vida Loca - the Travel Version.

I had looked at Minot weather.

Instead of Midland.

Needless to say, I turned around and changed clothes.

It’s never boring around here.

Changes in Temperature - Hormonal or No?

I dread one sporting clay shoot per year.  And I leave tomorrow to go shoot in it.  It's the DFW American Association of Drilling Engineers sporting clay shoot at the beautiful Dallas Gun Club.  Shooting?  FUN.  Usually.

But people...it's August.  There are a lot of trees.  And no breeze.

And I am a hormonal woman.  Just saying.

This comment on a business email sent earlier today to a Pennsylvania client, and penned by moi, sums it all up.

Winter Storm Rocky

I spent most of the day yesterday in a National American Association of Drilling Engineers Board Meeting, where I serve as the secretary on the national board.

I am taking minutes for said meeting.  My phone is blowing up.

Winter storm Rocky is messing with all the students heading to this conference, and they are all freaking out...some are presenting papers at this conference.  Some are just attending.  No matter what, I have 50 students from two different colleges that need to get into OKC and Storm Rocky is jacking with their travel plans.

Thank God that Raegan, Jenaya and Trey are with me, visiting the same board meeting, so they can answer my phone for me and deal with these students, their appointed bus companies, and all the drama that ensued.

I woke up this morning thinking, “We have 300 college students trying to get here for the conference.”

I bet my phone wasn’t the only one blowing up yesterday.

And this morning, in Oklahoma City, site of the AADE National Tech Conference?

It’s raining.   Not a blizzard.  And certainly not 11” of snow that was predicted for Oklahoma City.

Either Winter Storm Rocky hasn’t hit  yet, or it’s going elsewhere.

Dry, Dry, Dry...How Dry Is It?

Received this via e-mail, and edited it a little...

It’s so dry here in Texas, that if we all cried huge tears for an hour, it would be more moisture than we've seen in 10 months!

Other reports received:
  • A buddy out of Longview Tx.  said he'd killed a mosquito that was carrying a canteen.
  • A man in Dime Box Tx.  said the chicken farmers were giving the chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying hard-boiled eggs.
  • In Lake Palestine Tx. , they caught a 20 lb catfish that had ticks on it!
  • But just this week, in Bryan Tx., a fire hydrant was seen bribing a dog.
  • It's so dry in Texas that the Baptists are starting to baptize by sprinkling, the Methodists are using wet-wipes, the Presbyterians are giving out rain-checks, and the Catholics are praying for the wine to turn back into water.
Now, people, THAT's Dry!

Hormonal Weather

What a beautiful day!

It got to 72 degrees today here in my small town, in the West of Texas.  ThatManILove is out on a job, so I met a girlfriend for supper at McAlister's Deli.  Trying to stay on my purely healthy salad for dinner diet (oh yeah on my best day) and most days, it's working.

And while we were at the restaurant, I turned around, looked through the window, saw the highly touted "cold front" come in.  I remarked to my friend, "I see that front is almost here - but there is no wind.  What's pushing that sucker?"

And before I could finish my sentence, that sucker, Ol' Man Winter, came in all-abluster.  Oh, yes, he did.
Before we left, 30 minutes later, the temperature had dropped 25 degrees.

And while ago, it started snowing.  In one day, our temps have gone from 72 to 27.  That's worse than the mood swings of any hormonal woman I know.

Wait.  Did I say that?

I know not of which I speak.  (Can you pass me that washtowel, please?  I need to wipe my forehead.  Feeling a little clammy...)

C'mon, snow day.  C'mon!!  Get thy white, sticky stuff in heah!!
I LOVE Snow...Don't you?
