In Search Of A Munchkin

I woke up, a bit ago, and I realized I’m missing something.

This week has been highly planned, every second scheduled.  It’s been fun, you know I love people, and I’ve seen a million of them.

But…

I need to see a kid.

Pronto.

I need to know that it’s not all business.  That there is pure, unadulterated fun out there somewhere.

That not EVERYTHING is planned and plotted.

That not EVERY COMMENT is within a framework, carefully formed and uttered.

I need to see through someone else’s eyes.

I need to hear questions.  Pontification from the viewpoint of a 3 footer.  You know, because it COULD be that way.

I need to give hugs.  Encouragement.  “You CAN do it!”  “YAY!”

I need to be told, “C’mon, Janie, come play with me!”

Spontaneity.

Yup.

Now, how?  I’m not home, not planning on visiting anyone with munchkins this weekend.

Nor, do I have my camera with me.  (I can usually get people to play - get out of business mode - when I have my camera.  And that's fun, for them and I…I enjoy making people laugh, and capturing it via image.)

Hmmmm.

I’ll report back soon.

Yesterday Is Dead And Gone

Whooooeyyyyy!  What a day was yesterday!

Up at 4:30 am, to the airport at 6:00 a.m., en route to Houston at 7:30 a.m.

BY THE WAY:  If you happen to be a Southwest A-Lister, United Airlines or American Airlines top tier traveler, and you travel out of Midland International Airport…you no longer get to skip the long security line.  SERIOUSLY.  So plan accordingly.

Okay, rant over.

We get to the Thrifty Car Rental, disembark the shuttle bus, into a crowd of people.  No problem, right?  Because I HAVE A RESERVATION.

It’s now 9:10, and we have an 11 o’clock Lunch and Learn Technology Presentation.  I walk in, wait about 10 minutes to wend my way in the line to the counter, where I promptly (hah) find out…they have no cars.

I’m preferred Avis, Hertz, and National.  Why am I at Thrifty?  They were the only rental that had available vehicles.  True!  The website SAID so.

No, they did not.

I seriously got out cash and was thinking about bribing someone.  (I didn't. I was afraid of enraging the already enraged mob.) (Headline: Woman Trying To Manipulate The System Killed By Lynch Mob)

My colleagues and I ended up taking a taxi downtown, while ThatManILove stayed until a vehicle appeared, and he drove to meet us.

We had a great meeting, then repaired to our downtown Houston office, where I got ready for my National AADE Board meeting that will happen today.

And then, last night, we had dinner with friends that live in the area.  Which lasted until way late in the night.  We had so much fun with them, totally closed down Pappa’s Seafood, and they will join us tonight with their daughter and son-in-law.

Wish you were here – it’s gonna be a fun day and night!

Life in the Oilpatch.  I absolutely LOVE it.

I seriously cannot imagine my life any other way...

All You Need Is Love - Dallas Love Field, That Is - How Are You Living Your Life? (Part 7)

Sadly, this is the last of my "All You Need Is Love" series.  But what a poignant reminder to be intent about your life!

"A Life Lived In Love Will Never Be Dull." Leo Buscglia

Are you living an intentional life?

Go love on someone today, will you?

It's never boring around here.
