Mother and Daughter

Saturday, at the API Team Roping, I ran into a young friend with her newborn daughter.  She was watching her husband, her daddy and her uncle rope.  This mommy and daughter were beautiful together. They were surrounded by both sets of grandparents, and an aunt and uncle. (The family that ropes together stays together!)

I’ve known this young lady and her family for years.  I’ve watched she and her sister grow up and mature to be beautiful, responsible adults. I know their parents are so proud of both of these girlies, and this new little one has captured all their hearts.

I was asked to have my camera with me yesterday to take winner photos, and snagged a couple of shots.  When I uploaded these images last night, my heart swelled again to see the love this young mother has for her beautiful daughter. I thought you'd be blessed to see the love, as well.  

I am so very thankful that the Lord has given me eyes to see, and the talent to capture what I see.

Instant Nest...Repurposing For Nature

My friend who plants my spring and winter flowers sent me a text last week.

“I didn’t know you were raising birds?”

Me:  “I’m not.”

And she sent me this picture.

When I came home the next day, I pulled up the ladder, and took some closeups.

I had to go out of town that day, but I had all intents and purposes of getting a game camera or something of the like and setting it up so we could watch the babies learn to fly.

My housesitter sent me a text today, and told me all the birds were gone.

I guess they were a little older than I initially thought.

I’m still going through with the camera idea, to catch shots of the hummingbirds.

A girl can have some toys, right?  Right?

Tuesday Randomnocity (is that a word?)

I was flipping through my iPhoto storage, and found these shots I took, in one day.  And I thought, “What the heck?”  And then, I realized…

Though you may not be able to, I can look at them and tell you exactly what was going down on that day.

Without looking, I can tell you it was a Monday.

How?

Photo #1 is research I was doing for my chiropractor, whose daughter raises show lambs.  They were searching for a natural alternative for ringworm, a parasite to which lambs are susceptible.

Photo #2, #3, and #4 are screen shots taken of the breakfast menu at Smiling Moose.  I deliver Smiling Moose breakfast to one of my customers every Monday.

Photo #5 is a screen shot of a text between a customer and myself, concerning the Hendrix Experience concert we'd gone to the weekend before.  It made me laugh, so I thought I'd capture it for posterity.

Photo #6 is a shot of a cool little marketing attachment for your iPhone.  I have one, and I use it daily to store business cards.  It beats carrying a purse into a customer’s office.

And that’s just  photos taken before 11 a.m.

Yup.  I am an iPhone addict.  And I use almost every tool it offers.

Baby Announcements Rock

My friend had a great idea for a baby announcement.  

I can honestly say this is one of the cutest things I've worked on in a while.

Mommy had been practicing with her, all I had to do was take the pictures!

I love it!

I Told You...It's Never Boring Around Here

Well.

It's never boring around here.

We were headed home today, decided to stop for lunch in Irving.  Ran into a friend.  Ate, visited, had a great time.

Left the restaurant and what do we see?

Yup.  That's exactly what you think it is.  My window was broken.  Shattered.  

My heart jumped into my throat.  My head wanted me to have left the window down...but my heart?  Knew.  

We had been robbed.

We were packed to head home.  And in the second seat floorboard?  Two cases.

Bummer.

This is my first list of what all is missing, that I can remember, and an estimated cost.  (Which, now I know, I lowballed the MacBookPro.  I know this because I just went and purchased the replacement.)

I forgot my Speedlite Flash.  My Samsonite spinner case.

Then, this morning, remembered several sets of premium seat concert tickets...for George Jones.  Peter Frampton with Robert Cray.  Boz Scaggs.  Now I'm chasing those receipts down to get those replaced.

I'm sure I'll remember stuff for days.

Hummingbirds, Part 345

Okay, I just made up that title.

But in the evenings, when time allows, my camera and I have been hanging out in the back yard.

As have the hummingbirds.

Here’s what’s happened in my back yard lately.

Calibrate, Calibrate, Dance to the Music!

I took a Lightroom class last night - my first night of two.

I’m so excited.  I learned so much!

One thing, probably one of the most important - that your edited pictures you see on your screen may not be what your viewers see...so get a screen calibration kit.  Use it.

And be amazed.

That is the profound thought that is rocking my world today.

So be it.

Update on The Brothers

Wow.  Time has flown by! Thanks for all your comments and prayers.

In reference to my “Cancer Sucks” post, my brother-in-law is doing well post surgery. Once ThatManILove got off his current well, we went and stayed with them a couple of days and had a lovely time!

His pathology report came back clear, which is excellent news.  I appreciate your continued prayers for Mark.

At the same time, we received a report that TMIL’s oldest brother, Mike, is out of remission and he’s undergoing chemo again.

Man.  So I’m going to hold my thought: cancer still sucks.  But I’m praying for another miracle!  Join me, if you will.

Since I last wrote, I’ve been in Houston, Waco, Dallas, and Denver.  It snowed 10 inches in Denver, and when I left that lovely city, it was a cool 17 degrees.  Brrrrr!

I’ll be heading to Houston twice this week, once for a meeting, and the second time for the American Association of Drilling Engineers Fin Feather Fur Food Fest!  I will quit eating, in preparation for this huge Thursday gala, on Monday.  If you’re near Humble, Texas, buy a ticket and come on!  Everything cooked has to be wild game, either fin, feather, or fur related.  It is so much fun...I’ll post pictures!

My little friend Brooke, who is 10, helped me do baby bump shots yesterday.  I’ll be editing her pix today (she shot right alongside me), but here she is, doing art work on the mommy’s tummy.

When I left  Brooke yesterday, she was shearing her lambs in preparation for a stock show this morning, 2 hours away.  She's a hard working little girlie, and I love her so!
