Eclectic Townage Curiosities

Someday, I’m gonna stop.
Saturday found us heading down to the town of Spicewood, Texas.
It’s a small town, near Austin.  We went to see one of our sons, his wife, and their 6 month old. Quick trip, quicker trip back.
But, en route, we went through all these small towns.  Garden City. Sterling City. San Angelo (not sooo small), then Eden, Brady, Llano.
In every one of them, I saw someplace I wanted to stop. A store. A tattoo shop. (Why?  I don’t know...I liked the name:  “Hurt Tattoo”.)
You know, the stuff that small towns are made from.
I love small towns.  I like knowing what makes them tick.

We had the time to stop on Sunday…but, being small town stores, they were closed.  And I'm glad that those owners were taking time off.
And someday, I’m gonna stop.  Agenda, or no.

  1. I love the small towns, too. Here in GA, many of them are set up on squares with the old courthouse in the middle. I like visiting the restaurants and eating some great vittles.

    1. Mmmmmm….thanks for flinging that craving on me, Coffeypot!!

  2. I've stopped in all of them, trust me, and the only place worth stopping is Venison World in Eden. Their Venison jerky is the absolute best...

  3. i believe you'll stop when you're dead. :)

  4. I hope you get to stop at some of those lovely places, before you stop permanently, Janie. And since that's going to be a long time from now, I suspect you will stop.

    What is the life,
    if, full of care,
    we have not time
    to stop and stare

I cannot remember the poet, but the poem is lovely.

  5. It is fun to discover small towns and all they have to offer. I'm one of those people who gripes about the homoginization of America as we pass exits on the highway with the same stores and restaurants over and over - it's nice to find those unique places!

    1. I feel the same way, Mel! And I am gonna stop and frequent!!

  6. I hope you'll have your camera with you when you do.

  7. What a beautiful idea, Hilary! I believe I will!

You know you have SOMETHING to say, so spit it out! I love comments!
