Mom! Get UP! It's Morning!!

These animals of mine.

They have no concept that it.is.Saturday.

My day of partial rest.

The one day I don’t have to get up out of bed at 5:30 a.m.
So, they’re up and at ‘em, time to go outside, let’s go, Mom.  Can we have a treat, Mom?
Come look at the birds, Mom! Oh, look, a squirrel, Mom!

Okay, we’ll come back to bed, Mom, for exactly 46 minutes.

(46 minutes and 2 seconds later)

Mom!  Wake up!  We must go outside now!  Because…we hear birds!  That means it’s morning and time to get up! Let’s go outside!  The squirrels!  Dogs are walking their humans!  C’mon, mom!

What do you mean we’ve already been outside?  We just got up, we’ve been asleep with you? Don’t you remember? It’s a brand new day!! Can we have a treat, Mom? Come look at the birds, Mom! Oh, look, a squirrel, Mom!

Okay, we’ll come to bed, Mom.

Can we bring our treats?

It's never boring around here.

Snoozy Saturday!

I don’t guess I can gripe about getting enough sleep last night.

ThatManILove came home with a respiratory infection.  I wonder where he got it?  Oh!  Right here at home. From me. And he still loves me.

He went by Outback, picked up dinner, we ate, and promptly laid down to go to sleep. I think I read for like 15 minutes before I crashed.

I woke up, 30 minutes later, and it was 8 p.m.

I think I must be getting old, because I went right back to sleep.

Anyway, now I’m awake.  It’s 2 a.m.  So, officially, I’ve had, what, 6 hours of sleep?

That is crazy.  Crazy good, for me.

I think I’m going back to sleep now.  I have quite a bit of stuff to slam down into the “done” pile for Saturday.

Good sleep will help me get that faded.

Have a great Saturday, people.  It’s gonna be a good, good day.

I promise.

Saturday, Finally! It's MY Day! Mine! All Mine!!

Today, on a Saturday that’s supposed to be mine, all mine, I went and worked out.  (Enter the pre-whine, you know, the one where I’m already starting to get sore, V’Lesha kicked my butt, etc.)
I went to get ThatManILove so we could deliver the jeep to get new tires at Discount Tire.    He went to the tire store, and I was to meet him there with Starbucks.  I drove to our local Starbucks, and it was so crowded the butt end of my Sequoia was sticking out into one of the busiest streets in Midland.  And then three! (3)...yeah,  one-two-three... different cars tried to hit me once I made it into the relative safety of the parking lot.
I felt more safe when the butt end of my car was sticking out into the busy street.
I decided to abandon ship and get the heck out of there - obviously those people needed caffiene way more than I.
I had a brain wave, went to Barnes and Nobles, and was in and out of there with our drinks in less than 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, did I tell you Discount Tire was closed...for a party?  Don’t they know that I need tires?  And right now?  For a jeep that’s going to sit in the driveway for another week?  Abandon that plan, regroup for Monday.
Okay, if this is how this Saturday’s going to go, I believe I'm going to need a redo.
We load up in one vehicle.  Go to the post office, where we have to annually re-certify our identities to keep our post office box.  And there, we mail a package of goodies to the beautiful god-daughter.  When I get back into my truck, I realize I left out the coolest pair of tennis shoes!!

Off to Petsmart, for more doggy stuff.  And then to Sam’s Club, to stock up on drinks and Clif Bars for a customer’s fitness walk coming up next weekend. I really start to feel the soreness kick in while I’m walking the aisles of Sam’s Club. I saw a recliner in an aisle and wanted to collapse in it.  But I kept on keeping on.  I never thought we were going to get this stuff loaded.  I hope the customers will help me unload it, come Monday.  Full count:  300 Gatorades and waters, 240 Clif Bars.  I feel healthy - hope they do!

And then we stopped for lunch…at an establishment where the television was showing the 9-11 unveiling of the Memorial Wall for Flight 93.  It was beautiful.  And I cried.  Couldn't finish lunch, thinking of how brave those souls were.
Okay.  So now, back to MY weekend.  Just MINE.  You know, the one where I now nap, relax, take a jacuzzi bath, drink a glass of ThatManILove's best wine turn to the computer to input data for OUR taxes.
That would be me.

Wait.  Is that the doorbell ringing? Grrrrrrr.

…to be continued.

Kiddos, Mudbaths, and Sweet Babies

I wrote this last night.   And then, somehow my computer updated, and it’s...gone.  Vamoose.  Andale.  History.  Quick.  But the upside is I had loaded all my photos to Phanfare, so that's good.  And the bigger upside - all my old files are back.  YAHOOOO!
My original post wasn’t that great anyway, really just gritching about how busy my Saturday was.  Busy, but fun.
First, I met a friend for breakfast/brunch. Nothing better than Mexican food for breakfast!  Yummmm.  Totally blows the diet, though.
As soon as I finished, I met more friends, and drank tea while they ate their salads and pizza.
And then, it was time for the birthday party for Cash, one of my 4 year old friends.  The invite said to come to the party at “the Treehouse and Dirt Pile.”

Cash' space shuttle birthday cake.  Check out his shirt.  It's the truth!

And they weren’t kidding!  It is so much fun to watch munchkins...especially when they turn the “dirtpile” into the “mudbath.”  Here are some pix so you can join in the fun.
Not too bad...the boots might be history.

Yup, the boots are history.  Daddy thinks it's funny.

Just to show you how crazy it got!
Mudslide!  Big sister Brooke on bottom.

Brooke, still beautiful!

And when it was time to leave, I got a text from my sweet dog-walker, Casey, who’s just given birth to a beautiful little boy.  She wanted to snag a minute to take some pictures, so she met me at the house.  Zanna?  Loves little Rhyder...

Great timing...except for little Rhyder had one horrible tummyache.  We worked around it, but pretty much will have to reschedule.
I love babies.

Happy trails until we meet again!
