July 1st, our town started a mandatory watering schedule.
Twice a week. No more than that, or we’ll be heavily fined.
And my plants, my beautiful outside oasis...I wonder how it’s going to fare.
I know in the bigger picture that they are here but for a moment anyway, but I love them so much. This is my quiet place, I hang out here almost every morning at 5:30. And I’ll miss the plants so much when they’re gone. And gone, they will be, most certainly gone in 108-110 degree temps without every day watering.
I guess I better take some pictures while they’re still (mostly) beautiful.
Lord, please send rain. Our farmers, ranchers, we all need it.
yes, we certainly do... love all your beautiful gardens. so pretty. i hope they'll manage...
ReplyDeleteWow! That's a lot of plants. How many hours does it take you to water them every day? Or do you hire someone?
ReplyDeleteI just found out from a FB friend that I can water my plants because they fall under the "landscape" exclusion.
ReplyDeleteBut to answer your question, they're on an irrigation system, and they water 3 minutes a day.
Glad to read that last comment. So your plants will be saved?
ReplyDeleteI've got to confirm everything, but it looks hopeful! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope they survive, as they are stunning.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it something, just sitting and looking at your flowers bring such peace and joy. Hope it rains, for everyone's sake.
ReplyDeleteI saw your comment that you do get to water, and I'm glad--But I'll sill hope rain comes in your direction.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel, we haven't had any rain here in Houston in a while as well.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can water your plants, I must say it really used to tork me when we lived in town and they would put this watering thing on. Then you would be in town and see city and business sprinklers going at it like ninety and some of the heads would be malfunctioning while the water spilled into the street.. car washes were still open? But we were suppose to let our grass and shrubs die or pay a fine? mmm I never could see the justice of that.
ReplyDeleteFingers and toes crossed that it rains for you and for the farmers. That garden is too beautiful to let go of!
ReplyDeleteOh that would be a shame but understandable that water needs to be conserved. I hope you get your rain very soon.
ReplyDeleteI did a rain dance when we were in the Everglades two weeks ago. So far, they have had a couple days of a monsoon. Want me to teach you the steps?
ReplyDeletehoping for rain for you all down there...glad you will still be able to water 3 minutes a day doesn't seem so bad..it must be a very serious water shortage.
ReplyDeleteOur last child is leaving for college in September and at first I thought I would maybe get a pet. Then I thought about it and realized I don't even want a houseplant!
so on watering days can you fill a coupl buckets for the rest of the week? maybe start a rain barrel to catch it when you finally get some...
ReplyDeleteWow - your desert is sure a lot greener than our desert.
